THE ROMAN COUNTRYSIDE
NOVEMBER 3 -10, 2023

Just outside of bustling Rome, the countryside is dotted with tiny villages, where the stories of the ancient Romans are being quietly preserved. This region called Lazio, is both rugged and serene, with unique dishes, wines, and folkways to be discovered.
Spend 5 nights at Casale San Pietro, a luxury house in the olive groves, followed by 2 nights in Rome, at the chic Palazzo Scanderbeg, steps from the Trevi Fountian. All rooms at both properties have a private ensuite bath, wi-fi, mini bar, TV.

DAY 1
WELCOME TO ITALY!

We will pick you up at Roma Fiumicino Airport or Roma Termini Station and head to the green hills of Frosinone to check into Casale San Pietro country house. Welcome cocktails and dinner tonight at the casale.

DAY 2
ANAGNI, VILLAGE OF THE POPES

We will travel with a local guide into the village of Anagni, the city of popes for an art and history tour. Lunch in Anagni and free time to shop and explore on your own. Tonight, dinner in a trattoria of a nearby village.

DAY 3 COOKING CLASS IN ZAGAROLO

Learn to make rustic Roman dishes with Claudia. Claudia owned and ran a well know restaurant in the center of Rome for years, and now hosts private classes at her house nestled in the olive groves in the mountains. It's always an afternoon to be remembered cooking with her! Dinner tonight near the casale.
DAY 4 CASTEL GANDOLFO & ARICCIA
Romans have been vacationing in the lake towns of "Castelli Romani" for centuries. Visit one of the most beautiful properties, Castel Gandolfo, set on the volcanic crater of Lake Albano. It was originally built in the 1600's as a summer home for the pope and has only been open to the public since 2016. Have lunch of porchetta and jugs of homemade red wine at a typical Roman fraschetta in Ariccia. Relax back at the casale after a day of excursions, with dinner tonight at Casale San Pietro.
DAY 5 VISIT HERCULANEUM OR FREE DAY
Your Choice: Take a 2 hour road trip south to discover the ruins of Herculaneum with lunch in Napoli, or relax at the property, maybe book a massage or stroll through the olive groves.
Dinner together at Malacucina in the village of Anagni.
DAY 6 FRASCATI & TRANSFER TO ROME
On our way to Rome, we will stop for a cooking class at a winery Frascati vineyard. Frascati is not only famous for amazing wine, but a local legend to suit it well! Check into our hotel in Rome. Dinner on your own tonight.
Check into Palazzo Scanderbeg, steps from the Trevi Fountain.
DAY 7 FOOD TOUR AND ROME AFTER DARK
Afternoon food tour in Rome, and then rest of day is free to explore.
Farewell dinner tonight together at one of our favorite trattorie. After dinner, for those of you up to it, join us for late night cocktails on your last night in the Eternal City, at a Trastevere speakeasy.
